Review
4.5 Gunmetal Lily was a unique Mafia reverse harem stand-alone. It is part of the interconnected world of mafia wars standalones where the fmc's are married off to another crime family. You don't have to read any of the other books to read this & vice versa. I started with this one & then I went to read the other one out in the series after.I thought the mafia arranged marriage was handled differently than I've ever read it in rh before. The MC that Lily marries has some problems from his past and he wants his new wife to be with his brothers while in public they are married. He's not mean, he's not coming at things from a negative point. I like his character a lot he can come off a little cold as he's the head of the family but you quickly see through it but there's no bullying he doesn't want to be enemies he just is realistic & a pragmatic. Her slight form of rebelling or she thinking she is rebelling is sleeping with her husband's brother taking some choice back as she didn't know she was going to be thrown into an arranged marriage until the last minute. What this book does is explore what it's like to be thrown into an arranged marriage, what it's like to be in the situation with these characters. It feels very grounded in the characters. There are threats & things going on with shipments & things and it does come ro a head but it's more a look into this life (which that aspect as a part of) & into the situatione, it just felt different. It kept me reading & I enjoyed it. It was short for an rh standalone. Part of me wanted a little bit more from the characters but part of me thinks the reason it was so enjoyable was because there wasn't filler. It's a peek inside their lives in the beginning of their situation and relationship, how they handle, & how it turns into what it's meant to be.
