Review
55 ESSENTIAL BALANCE EXERCISES FOR SENIORS - While not perfect, this book is better than expected. Working through all the exercises was no problem with no ridiculous exercises that I have seen in other books in this genre. There is an introduction of balance basics, its mechanisms, and the visual, vestibular (hearing) and somatosensory systems. A chapter on stretching and its value. Then 55 exercises broken down into standing, seated, core, walking, vestibular, and lying down. Each exercise is described, what it accomplishes and instructions. There are no photographs, just simple line drawings and links to videos on YouTube.com for most of the exercises. Not all the exercises have a drawing or a video. After the exercises, the author discusses diseases that affect balance, which I did not read, not my problem. A four week workout routine is included. There are source references at the end of the book. I still recommend professional guidance, but this book is good for having visuals on many exercises. 4*.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
